Jeanne Baret was in a very poor and family. She was very passionate about plants though which gave her the adventure that she had. She became very good expert in plant medicines. As an herb women she supplied many druggists and physicians. Jeanne later fell in love as a house maid for cammerson and eventually became pregnant. Then they decided to run away to paris and to restart their lives.Then they sailed across the world and Cammerson became a naturalist to discover new species. Life on the ship for Baret was not easy and Camerson would often become moody. But once she came back she returned to her normal life back in France and became the first women to circumnaviagte the globe.

She was the first woman to circumnavigate the globe by ee recognized for its discoveries that surely provided the frabriccao of new drugs and new species of plants brought from other countries such as the best-known discovery Baret did was a colorful vine native South American Commerson respectfully named after Commander Bougainville: Bougainvillea brasiliensis, or what we call bougainvillea . By muiots but she had sad moments in its history as leaving two children be raped and having to stay widow and a man pretending to be able to make the trips his story was worth it.
Jeanne Baret had an interesting life growing up. The fact that she started to learn about the world at young age probably helped her realize that there was more to the world then just living at home and picking up samples at the fields. Its so inpirational when you hear that she dressed up like a man to be apart of all the researching on the Naval ships. It would be very hard to for someone like myself to put on a happy face while traveling on a boat like she was. But the fact was that she loved what she did even if it did include hiding her identity. I am so happy she is known for all her hard work and perseverance to do something a woman back then was not allowed to be apart of.
Jeanne Baret was very smart and sneaky to pretend to be a man. She helped Commerson study plants in all the new places they traveled. After the crew of the ship found out she was a woman they did not treat her well and then she got pregnant and had to leave the ship. She did not take good care of her babies and left them with other people. She finally came back to France with a new husband but no one gave her credit for being the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.
Jeanne Baret's willingness to chase her passion for plants is incredibly admirable. Her fate was to travel the globe, and to do what she knew best as an herb woman. I love how she refused to let her gender hold her back from anything; she was incredibly brave to put herself in such danger, and board that ship. All her difficulties such as getting harassed by the crew, and getting pregnant barely compared to her serious accomplishment of being the first woman to sail the world. All her hardship and struggles were worth it, and she was an incredible woman for hanging on and making sure her dreams came true.
after reading this article i think we can all agree on the fact that jeanne was a very determined woman. putting plants as her top priority in life over family is a little bit ridiculous in my opinion but eventually led to something great. unfortunately to get to the great she had to face many obstacles the first being her gender. at the time women were not allowed to sail along side the men on french ships, so she dressed as a man and followed her dream after being called out by a native the men took advantage of having a woman on board and raped her, the last obstacle was just living on the ship which had VERY poor living conditions. after going through all those tough times jeanne finally made it to south america where she found a colorful vine she named bougainvillea. jeanne finally made it back to france and earned herself the title of the first woman to circumnavigate the world.

In doing this, she sacrificed her dignity and disguised herself as a man so she could go on this adventure.Since Commerson had problems with his leg, Baret took over the work. Her most known discovery is the colorful vine, native to South America. Even though Baret was not probably going to win the greatest mother award,she became the first women to circumnavigate the globe. She received regonition as a naturalist and the legacy of plants, seeds, shells, and insects are in the Mueseum national d'Histoire naturelle and will impact biology forever.

She faced many challenges diguising herself however. When her gender was revealed by a native, she was scared and was raped by a few shipmates. She is a good example of how people are willing to sacrifice everything in order to do what they love.

Then when she wanted to sail around the world, only men were allowed on the French ships. She had the courage to dress as a man and to follow her dreams as the naturalist's assistant. She also had to the men's jobs aboard the ships which had not helped with her physical condition. Then a native had revealed that Baret was a women and she was raped by a few of the shipmates aboard the ship. She then proceeded after the journey to marry Jean Dubernat and started a new life for herself. She was later recognized as a naturalists an contributing to learning about herbs and plants. I learned you have to go through many challenges to do what you love.
